Can’t they find a HVAC tech that doesn’t smoke?

I was trying to smile when he walked up to the door, but I wasn’t happy

My husband and I are non-smokers. I have severe allergies and asthma, and my husband just doesn’t like the smell of smoke. Our house is a non-smoking area. We have butt cans on the porch for anyone who visits. We don’t mind if they smoke outside, but the cigarette butts must go in the butt can. We made a promise to ourselves that if anyone left cigarette butts in our yard or driveway, we were going to ban all smoking on our property. I had to call the HVAC company last week to have my air conditioning unit inspected. I had noticed some odd noises coming from the AC unit. I decided to just call and have a HVAC specialist look at the AC unit, even though my husband thought I was wasting our money. I have been using the same HVAC company since we moved into our house. I would have thought they had something on their records that would have them send a non-smoker to our house, but that wasn’t the case. The HVAC technician got out of his service van with a cigarette in his hand. Not only did he have a cigarette, but he threw it down on the ground and stepped on it. I was trying to smile when he walked up to the door, but I wasn’t happy. As soon as he got into the basement with the furnace, I could smell the cigarette smoke wafting up through the floor. I called the HVAC company and told them I was about to anger their HVAC technician. He was smoking in my house, even though I had a sign on the outside announcing that ours was a non-smoking house.
