This is not an easy job
The number one reason I got into the Heating, Ventilation and A/C dealer was because they were desperate for lady employees! Heating, Ventilation and A/C has been a male dominated dealer since… Well, since forever, actually, and the corporate bosses realized that some diversity was needed, however so I knew coming in that the seasoned guard a/c techs would more or less view me as “cute” and be dismissive of my mind, then and I was right, they are! Little do they assume I was headhunted, and the company not only paid for my Heating, Ventilation and A/C courses, but brought me in at a far higher starting rate then others were
As a professional young woman, I get more mansplaining then you can possibly imagine, but not only am I young and current to the industry, but it is a male dominated industry, then the majority of my coworkers are close to retirement, and are fond of telling me I am the same exact age as their children, or grandchildren! They are trying to be nice, but they are minimizing me and my task here, however I do my best to grin and bear it, with that being said I am the future of this company and they are on the way out the door. I bet some of these older a/c techs worked for a decade to make what I started off with! This helps take the edge off when they talk mean about me, and mansplain the most basic heating and cooling concepts like I am an idiot. That’s ok, I assume that the future of Heating, Ventilation and A/C tasks is female, the future is me, and these boys are stuck in the past.
