The rainy weather is making me cold every night

My house is old with thin walls, and with these summer rainstorms nearly every night my house becomes damp and cold.

It has gotten to the point where at night, I completely shut off the A/C and double check the thermostat to ensure that yes it is off. Then, I use the thermostat to crank up the heat from my electric heater. This helps to keep my warm during the rainfall. While I obviously don’t get wet, the house has leaks in it and that draft cool air sneaks in to freeze me. I just turn the heater up higher and wrap myself in blankets until I’m nothing but a cocoon. It does help, and I would love to say that I wish the rain would stop, but that would mean summer coming to a close and from there it will only get colder with the onset of Fall and Winter. I considered getting a better, and more powerful, HVAC system from the HVAC contractor near me. While they have all kinds of amazing heat and a/c products, my heater and air conditioner isn’t the problem, they are as powerful as they need to be. The problem is with my old house with the leaks and drafts. Sometimes when I don’t want the modern heating unit I sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy its natural warmth, it is very soothing. In time I plan to have insulation properly installed in my home, because my house is so old it has little to no insulation. But thankfully due to having an excellent quality HVAC and a beautiful gas fireplace, I have been able to manage.
