The knob on the heater broke off in my hand

I called the building supervisor as soon as the problem occurred, but he didn’t return my call for two hours

My girlfriend and I moved to the city about six months ago. It was a great decision, but we should have picked a better apartment building. We lived in a hotel for the first two weeks while we searched for an apartment. We found a nice place close to work, but the building is old and in need of major renovations. My girlfriend and I have a nice apartment on the third floor. We have a balcony by the kitchen and we can see the entire park. The apartment building is about 100 years old. The floors make noises at night and my girlfriend and I frequently hear mice running around in the walls. Last weekend, the knob on the heater broke off in my hand. My girlfriend and I have a radiator heater in the living room. There is a knob to adjust the sheet. It was very warm in the house, so I tried to turn the heat down. The knob broke in my hands. The bottom was filled with rust. The heater ran and ran and the temperature in our apartment became warmer and warmer. We had to open the door to the balcony and it was still very warm and muggy inside of the apartment. I called the building supervisor as soon as the problem occurred, but he didn’t return my call for two hours. It took another hour for the guy to show up and fix the problem. It was almost ninety degrees in the apartment when the guy finally fixed the radiator.
