My nephew gave up trying to become an HVAC technician
My nephew’s been trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life for years.
When he was a kid he wanted to be a professional athlete, but it didn’t pan out after college.
After he got his degree, he couldn’t even find a job within that field or industry. Like me, my nephew majored in philosophy. Back when I majored in philosophy, my intention was to become a professor someday. For me, that did not pan out and now I work in a completely different industry. My nephew also wanted to be a professor, but there were really jobs available and he struggled to get into a graduate program. That’s why my nephew inevitably decided to go to trade school instead. He figured he could learn a trade and make better money in the long run. His first attempt at a new career was hvac. He started taking classes at the trade school on heating and cooling work, but eventually he had to give it up. He did not take well to HVAC work. He had to memorize a lot of information that was difficult for him to understand in the first place. So instead of becoming a heating and cooling worker, my nephew went into cooking. He prefers being a chef rather than HVAC technician, but it’s possible he would have made more money working in the heating and cooling industry. It’s going to take him a number of years working as a cook before he gets to an income that he would have gotten as an entry-level heating and cooling technician.
