My HVAC condenser is making strange noises all of a sudden

I had a pretty good run last year at my house.

For the first time in forever, I didn’t have any repairs or maintenance work done for 12 months.

Because my air conditioner had just been installed, the HVAC company told me that I could wait up to a year before getting regular maintenance. If it wasn’t for the air conditioner, I probably could have gone another year or more without any repairs around the house. It’s frustrating because you expect a brand new air conditioner to come without any added headaches. You assume that you’re getting a powerful and long-lasting replacement for one of your home’s most essential features. When you go with a company as reputable as my particular HVAC supplier, you expect results without added frustrations. You wouldn’t expect them to make a huge mistake while installing your new system. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened to my air conditioner. Over the course of a month I kept hearing more noise coming from my condenser unit outside. When It got so bad that I had to call my HVAC contractor, it sounded like an old refrigerator that is ready to die. After they sent out one of their technicians who is an expert on compressors, he told me that my condenser unit would need to be rebuilt and my refrigerant lines would need to be flushed. He said that something as miniscule as a drop of water could have gotten into the refrigerant line when the system was installed, leading to the slow death of my compressor. I am happy that it’s still under warranty, but I’m not happy about having no air conditioning for a few days while I wait on repairs.
