Little kids tend to love huge things

When my child was little, nothing fascinated him more than sizable old things.

  • Waiting for the sizable brown delivery truck was thrilling, and passing a semi on the way someplace had her trying to hang out the automobile window.

It was a good thing every one of us had her strapped in! I took her to a farm open house on one occasion, but she didn’t care in the least about the critters. When the tractor came out, that’s when her face lit up. That’s why her mother took her to her place of work one day to show her all the pressing stuff used at her place of employment every day. Most exciting to little Bethany was the industrial boiler room. The industrial boilers are constructed of incredibly thick welded metal, and when my wife explained that there is so much pressure inside an industrial boiler that it could blow up, of course that’s what her little mind wanted to see. Of course, she didn’t really understand the true power of the boiler! She also wanted to hear all about how the boiler works, so her mother patiently explained everything to her. The boiler uses a flame (even more fun for a youngster!) to heat up a bunch of water inside the boiler tank. The water turns to steam, and sizable pumps in the boiler room send the water into these sizable pipes, where it gets used by whoever needs it. In this case, the industrial boilers feed the bottling plant where my wife worked… She told her the boiler system’s pipes were so gigantic, she could walk right through them, and little Bethany’s eyes became as big as saucers. Years later, when the plant had to get a mobile boiler rental service, Bethany was amazed all over again!
