I Forgot To Replace My Air Filter

When my allergies started negatively affecting my day, I assumed it was because the weather was warming up and we were transitioning into spring. I normally experience seasonal allergies in the spring, but it’s not until the pollen starts spreading and the flowers start blooming. It was a little early for me to start coughing, sneezing, and having watery eyes. I tried taking my normal allergy pill, but that didn’t help. I went to the doctor and he prescribed something for my allergies, which helped for a short amount of time. However, once the medication ran out, my allergies were back to flaring up. Once I realized that I was coughing and sneezing more inside my own home, my mind began to race. I was trying to figure out what was causing the air in my home to be so musty. Finally, I realized that my air filter hadn’t been replaced in awhile. I never got around to having my HVAC system serviced by an HVAC specialist before switching over to my air conditioner, so my air filter was never replaced. When I took the air filter out, I noticed how disgusting it was. There was a ton of gray and brown dust and random particles stuck in the filter. All the air that was passing through the air filter was pushing out specks of dust and debri into the air I was breathing because it wasn’t possible for the air filter to stop anything else. Once I switched the air filter for a clean one, my allergies disappeared!
