Chamomile tea provides health benefits

Chamomile tea has been used as a health remedy for hundreds of years.

In recent times, researchers have begun studying the properties of chamomile tea in hopes of finding an effective treatment for illnesses, including cancer and diabetes.

The potency of the variety of chamomile teas available on the market are very different, with certain products offering a lot more actual chamomile than others. While higher potency teas might seem better, those also are more likely to result in side effects. It’s best to begin with a low dosage and work your way up gradually. Chamomile’s medicinal effects are largely due to flavonoids, which are a type of nutrient present in many plants. One of the main benefits of chamomile tea is that it helps to lessen the severity of menstrual cramps. A recent study indicated that consuming chamomile tea for a month reduced pain of cramps, anxiety and the stress linked to period pain. There is also hope that chamomile tea can lower blood sugar for people suffering from diabetes. While drinking chamomile tea isn’t a substitute for conventional medication, it offers a rewarding supplement. Another use of chamomile is to promote bone density, which is especially helpful for post-menopausal women. Osteoporosis is the progressive loss of bone density, can lead to easily broken bones and stooped posture and is a due to the effects of estrogen on older women. Chamomile tea further contains chemical compounds that may lessen inflammation linked to hemorrhoids, arthritis, autoimmune disorders and gastrointestinal pain. The big hope is that chamomile tea will prove successful in targeting cancer cells or preventing those cells from developing initially. More research is needed to provide chamomile’s anti-cancer properties.
